Two powerful earthquakes struck about 100 miles west of Caracas causing widespread destruction across parts of Venezuela. Buildings collapsed, homes and essential infrastructure were damaged, and thousands of people have been left without safe shelter. Even as the full extent of the damage is still emerging, local churches have opened their doors to shelter displaced families and provide emergency assistance.

Emergency Response & Humanitarian Assistance Update
Emergency response teams continue to provide critical assistance to communities affected by the disaster. To date, 47,942 patients have received medical care, while more than 51.2 million liters of drinking water and 10,977 metric tons of food and essential supplies have been distributed.
A total of 107 temporary camps are currently operating and have provided shelter for 23,811 people. Overall, 128,324 families have received humanitarian assistance.
The disaster has caused extensive damage and significant loss of life. Authorities report that 856 buildings were damaged, including 190 buildings that completely collapsed. At least 17,907 people have been displaced, and 16,740 people have been injured.
Rescue teams have successfully recovered 6,462 people alive. Tragically, 5,546 deaths have been attributed to the emergency.
