Standing Together: Kjngdom Come Foundation & Wolf Creek Academy Serve North Carolina

When Hurricane Helene swept through the mountains of western North Carolina in the fall of 2024, it left behind a trail of destruction that few could have anticipated. Roads washed out. Homes flooded. Families displaced. Communities that had stood for generations were suddenly cut off, overwhelmed, and desperate for help.

Kjngdom Come Foundation had already been building a relationship with Wolf Creek Academy — a Christ-centered school nestled in the heart of western North Carolina — through our Kjngdom Partners program. When the storm hit, that relationship became a lifeline.

Wolf Creek Academy's staff and students knew their community. They knew which roads were passable, which families had been cut off, and which neighbors were most vulnerable. Kjngdom Come Foundation brought resources, coordination, and a network of support. Together, the two organizations formed a rapid-response team that was on the ground within days of the storm.

Volunteers loaded vehicles with food packages, clean water, hygiene supplies, warm clothing, and household essentials. Academy students — many of them teenagers — worked alongside adult volunteers to sort donations, pack boxes, and personally deliver supplies to families who had no way to reach a distribution center. For many of those students, it was their first experience of hands-on disaster relief ministry.

The partnership extended beyond physical supplies. Wolf Creek Academy opened its facilities as a staging ground and coordination hub, allowing relief teams to operate efficiently across a wide geographic area. Kjngdom Come Foundation provided funding to replenish supplies as demand grew, ensuring the effort could be sustained over multiple weeks rather than a single day.

"These young people showed up with more than supplies — they showed up with the love of Christ. That's what people remembered long after the boxes were empty."

More than 200 families received direct assistance through the partnership. Elderly residents who had been stranded in their homes were visited personally. Children received school supplies and comfort items. Local pastors and church leaders were connected with resources to continue caring for their congregations in the weeks that followed.

But the impact went deeper than the material aid. In the middle of loss and uncertainty, the presence of the Wolf Creek Academy community — students, teachers, and staff — demonstrated to their neighbors that the Church had not abandoned them. Every delivery was accompanied by prayer. Every conversation was an opportunity to point people to the hope of Jesus Christ.

This is what the Kjngdom Partners model is designed to do: identify faithful, rooted organizations already serving their communities, and come alongside them with the resources and support they need to multiply their impact. Wolf Creek Academy was already there. Kjngdom Come Foundation helped them go further.
