More Than a Game: Mentoring Through Sports Professionals & the Kjngdom Come Foundation
When a professional athlete walks into a classroom, every child in the room leans forward. Mentoring Through Sports Professionals uses that moment — and every moment that follows — to speak truth, build character, and point young people to Jesus Christ.

Sport has a unique language. It crosses borders, breaks down barriers, and opens doors that few other things can. Mentoring Through Sports Professionals (MTSP) was built on that conviction — and on the belief that the influence of a professional athlete, when surrendered to God, becomes one of the most powerful tools for shaping the next generation.
Kjngdom Come Foundation recognized that vision and came alongside MTSP as a Kjngdom Partner — providing financial support, coordination, and a platform to amplify the work already being done in classrooms, gymnasiums, and communities across the Caribbean and beyond.
The model is straightforward but profound: professional athletes — men and women who have competed at the highest levels of their sport — step out of the arena and into the lives of young people who need more than a coach. They need a mentor. Someone who has faced adversity, made hard choices, and found that faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation that holds when everything else gives way.
"These kids don't just need someone to teach them how to dribble or throw a ball. They need someone to look them in the eye and tell them they matter — that God has a purpose for their life. That's what we do."
In classrooms packed with children — many of them from difficult home situations, underserved communities, or areas with limited access to positive role models — MTSP mentors lead sessions that blend athletic training with life skills, character development, and Gospel-centered teaching. The photo above captures exactly that: a room full of young people, fully engaged, leaning in to hear from someone they respect.
The curriculum is intentional. Sessions cover topics like discipline, integrity, teamwork, handling failure, and the identity that comes from knowing Jesus Christ. Athletes share their own stories — the setbacks, the doubts, the moments where faith made the difference — and invite young people into a conversation about what it means to live for something greater than a trophy or a title.
"We came alongside MTSP because we saw what God was already doing through them. Our role is simply to help them go further — to more schools, more communities, more young people who need to hear that they are loved and that their life has eternal purpose."
The partnership with Kjngdom Come Foundation has allowed MTSP to expand its reach — funding travel to new communities, equipping mentors with resources, and connecting the program with local churches and schools that can provide ongoing discipleship after the athletes leave. The goal is never a one-time visit. It is a lasting relationship between young people and a community of faith that will walk with them for years to come.
For many of the children who have gone through the MTSP program, it was the first time a successful adult had ever invested personal time in them. It was the first time someone had told them — with conviction and from lived experience — that God sees them, knows them, and has a plan for their life. That message, delivered through the credibility of sport and the power of the Holy Spirit, changes everything.
This is the Kjngdom Partners vision in action: faithful organizations, already embedded in their communities, multiplied by the support of Kjngdom Come Foundation — so that more young people, in more places, can encounter the transforming love of Jesus Christ.
